The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) of Indonesia revoked the marketing authorization and withdraws all instant food products containing pork. There are four brands of Korean instant noodles are drawn, namely Samyang with U-Dong and Kimchi products, Ottogi with the name Yeul Ramen, and Nongshim by the name of Shin Ramyun Black.
Head of BPOM Penny Lukito confirmed the withdrawal of those products is the responsibility of importers. Penny also unfortunately importers do not include non-halal material when registering the product.
Penny said, in the process of giving the instant noodle distribution license, BPOM admitted to only check the documents provided by the importer. BPOM only do random sampling of the product without doing the food content test first. The reason, the acceleration of products and trust in importers.
“So far we have the trust aspect that importers will obey the regulation,” said Penny at Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, Monday, June 19, 2017.
“The POM is often asked to accelerate the product to reach consumers, and we need to see again, because our goodness is misused,” Penny said.
